Equals

I sit at my desk
                                            I charge through the field

Learning reading, writing, and diplomacy

Training to fight my foes in battle

Ink, pen, and words my weapons of choice

Sword, shield and courage used to defeat the enemy

I write my letters calling for a peaceful end to the conflict

I am prepared to give my life for the cause

Together we share our knowledge with all
In the end we both win the war

Author notes

“The ink of the scholar and the blood of a martyr are of equal value in heaven.”
