Dance away the evening,
Dance away the night,
The waltzes of your mind
Go round and round
In circles of delight.
Never mind your friend's charisma,
Jealousy never earned you a thing,
Listen to the girl behind the mike,
With a voice like an angel...
She won't give you a second glance.
Capture that moment when it happens,
Don't delay or it will be gone,
Never to return again.
Don't be too hasty either,
Or you may live to regret.
Dance away the evening,
Dance away the night,
When morning comes
The thought will still be there,
That you gave that moment away.
Pick up the phone,
Speak to that girl with a
Voice like an angel...
Let her know you care.

Captures mixed feelings of uncertainty and enjoyment, a realistic depiction of what it's like at a dance. Yes, do pick up the phone. I like the way the piece leaves us hanging as to what will happen next. Does he go after the girl or not?
Good luck with the girl and the piece.

Thank you
Thanks for your helpful comment - it wasn't written from personal experience - just inspired by the theme of the contest. I would be the girl, not the man anyway! Thanks, Harriet
