I wonder who you'd pick
If you had the chance to choose
Would you decide to give me up
Because I am yesterdays news
Would you help her with the housework
Doing dishes side by side
Make sure she's not too tired
While you throw old news aside
Would you talk to her so nasty
be grumpy and abuse
Or is that type of behavior
Saved only for yesterday's news
Would you go and earn more money
To pay for your new brood
While the ones that you once cared for
Are relegated to old news
Wouldn't it be easier
To do all that stuff with me?
But I guess that won't happen
Because I'm yesterday's news you see
I've held on to us for years
Felt my heart be crushed and bruised
But I guess that doesn't matter
Because I'm yesterday's old news

You did a wonderful job in creating a heartfelt and heartwrenching image... The flow was nice and the rhyme was smooth as well.. being "old news" can be hurtful most of the time, but when you get that one special person that treats you like "good news" lol.. It makes you feel great!!! I hope that happens for you soon!!!.. the only thing that kind of bothered me about this poem, (and I do mean only!) was the repeat of "old news", that kind of got just a little itty bit annoying.. But over all you did a wonderful job!!!

Thanks for you comments, as I mentioned to Klassy Lassy, its more about people I know that about me!
I will have a look at changing the it so 'old news' is not so repetitive, maybe alternating it with yesterday's news a bit, thanks for the tip {{hugs}}

It sounds to me that it's good news someone else is history. I wish you many new vistas of life and love. A friend of mine tells me, "Ya gotta leave him to his own happiness!" Guess it works for us, too.

Thanks Karen, although this was inspired by a small something that happened to me recently, its not really about me as such. Its for so many people I know who are in this situation, so many of them have become yesterday's old news, however a lot of them aren't too worried about that!!
