pride...... by candice solomon

if i had a wishing well

i would ask god to make you well
i would also ask for peace of mind

i would also ask on this weekend of pride
that all my friends in heaven will surround me

dance with me again
celebrate the way when we were young
before all the loss and the pain

if i could only hold you in my arms again
letting the laughter and happiness surround us

i want you to know that i could never have
come into my own without  you

even though you are not with me on earth
i  have my memories

you are my lifetime
so i will head down to the parade on Sunday and march
with tears in my eyes i will also celebrate all of my dearest friends
who are alive positive negative gay straight and bi

you are all a blessing and have given me wings to fly

i love you all my rainbow tribe

shall we all gather up our love for each-other like sisters
and brothers

know this is our day

and what i want to say

is that no matter what is going on

our voice must carry on

march my friends and loved ones

there is much work to be done

so on Sunday when i wake

i will celebrate

its all for you

this day of pride

bless you

for

being

alive........

Please tell me what you think

This is actually a positive message of tolerance and love.

Life should be free of such segregation and this poem shows the defiance needed in the world to bring about acceptance. Live and let live, here's to pride!

It's a great statement for living life to the full and I hold nothing against ant sexual orientation...just go and LIVE!

    All the best...Sue

I think it's a little weak as a poem, but very strong as a manifesto and a celebration.

I cannot join you in an appeal to god because I do not have one. However I am certainly in favour of celebrating all of my friends, and indeed nearly everyone else, just for being alive. It certainly doesn't matter if they are gay straight or bi. Except to say that if my wife isn't around all the men should be gay and the women straight or bi so I am the only man available for them
