Nightly Delight

Nightly Delight

By the lake, I sit
The sky by the moon, is lit.
Still and silent is the night,
Awaiting the  awakening of my delight.

I summon my magical harp,
And fairies come to play it.
Their tiny little fingers
Begin some mesmerizing music.

I listen and my whole being floats,
My body and my soul,
I drift with the air,
I touch the water,
I smell the flowers,
All unaware, yet aware of it all.

I lose myself to my surroundings.
The trees sing with the music,
And so do the fish
Along with the air, water and earth,
The hearts of the many creatures
Join me in my nightly delight.
I feel the heat of the earth beneath me
Vibrating with the sound.

All in perfect harmony,
Creatures and elements of the same earth;
All as one, and yet each is one Alone!

I like that this is a poem about life and not light, which I see to often. Usually when people write about the joys of living and life they dwindle of into one love white light land but you seem to understand that everything is everything.

I love the imagery here. It is breathtaking. I think you did a phenomenol job writing this piece. I love how you and nature collide to sway with the rythme of the music. Great write. ~mandie~

    Look out, I'm mean.

When I read something like this, I feel like the writer is really in the zone, really alive with what they WANT to share.
The art of poetry, however, is being able to magically deliver those feelings of life using our clumsy, english language. - Not easy.

    "I drift with the air,
    I touch the water,
    I smell the flowers,"

Nope, no you don't, cause most of you're readers won't be there with you, this and other tidbits of "Nightly Delight" are really more of you describing a picture, or talking with a friend, than developing a connessure poem that entices our senses with words.
There's no suspense, drama, riddle, or rhyme (except first two lines of course)
I feel like your poem is the food fact label from a box of cereal.

I suppose you've done more than a lot of the other writers here though, even the simplicity of your background is a step up from some of the crap one can read at allpoetry.

it is very well portrayed in your poem that you are a nature lover, beautifuly penned with pretty imagery.
all in one, yet each one alone
    all in perfect harmony .
it really uplifts my mood reading and sensing the beauty painted by the nightly delight.
    thanks for sharing
    best of luck
    cheers
