The orchards surrounding the house
thrive with fruit of the vine.
All seems fine.
Inside, she feels her heart intertwine
with his. His profession of love for her
pulls the stars in the crystal sky down to earth.
She sleeps among them.
Dark hair and disturbed blue eyes
look for some comfort. For he went away
to war and has not been heard from since.
It has been a year, yet, her heart
is still intertwined with his.
Her countenance is a rock of sadness.

I like this--it explains why the lady was scrying and gives a good background for the painting. Lovely work!
