Stumbling Home Again Circa 1979
It’s almost summer,
It’s been six years if it’s a day
Ain’t it funny how the time
Always seems to slip away?
Like a leaf upon the wind
My directions all depend
On the changing of the seasons
Since the day that I was born
I’ve been tossed and I’ve been torn
Between the questions and the reasons
All I ever want to do
Is just get back home to you
‘Cause there’s a sad old wind a-blowing
Out across the evening sky
And there’s a hunger in me growing
And I’ve got to find out why
I need to see the oak trees glistening
Through the lamplight in the rain
I need to feel the touch of cobblestone
Beneath my heels again
And see the rows of white-washed houses
Down a crooked, Woodstock lane
And watch the mountain rise
To greet my eyes, as morning
Finds me stumbling home again

Ahhh...no ones' really expectin' perfect alignment... after all you did start off stumblin' ...hard to concentrate on alignment when the struggle is to stay upright...focus on the destination, is what I say...thanks for takin' me along on the trip and thank you for my slice of the Pye today...if I get fat, it's gonna be all your fault...lol

to dance the cobblestone of life to find the images that dance like wine to Caresse the pages you have penned with the essence that flows dear one within...stunning words .. Hugs Angel♥

In the spirit of ...
home and the heart ... I can see that you touched on both with this poem. I think that as far as your alignment problem goes, it's probably because you're copying and pasting from another program such as word or works. I would suggest left aligning all for now and then transferring to this site. joy

Another Oldie...!
so happy that you have picked these ones out from the "archives" cuz these old poems hold some very special memories...this one is all about returning to Cape Town from Johannesburg, with my thumb up of course...this particular spot is a mountain pass, which as you reach it's peak, spread out b'neath you lies this vast and beautiful panorama; an almost endless stretch of costline, pristine beaches and ocean...it's breathtaking, you have to see it to feel it...I could go on...will have to do it in installments LOL! Johannesburg is landlocked, Cape Town is the sea! and truly where my heart lies...my sincere gratitude to you for allowing me to share these tender images with such a fine fellow poet!
