Looking back to see the shadows,
of a life lost and a love stolen,
seeking to spread wings and soar.
Reaching through the bonds of the corporeal
to reach the spirit of the ethereal,
gaining understanding and yearning to be free.
Light kissed, shadow scorned,
aching for the purity of freedom.
One must endure the solace of torment
and the pain of despair in order
to achieve the feeling of ascendance.
Through hardship and strife
one learns the most important lesson:
Chains of sin bind, but forgiveness sets us free.
