My intentions slid, easily
Through my fingertips
Fine like sand
The clock ticked death
While I allowed my time
To rest in your hands.
Your words still fall
Louder than the rain
Crushing my ability
To hear my voice, again
My meekness only added fuel
To your hostility.
All I was, you are
Lost in that game
Where did we go wrong?
Two became one, and then
It all fell apart
Hopes and dreams, gone.
Like my past, relived
Your fist landed square, and
In a flash I tried
To excuse you for
What you became
It's to the mirror, I lied.
All I was, you are
Lost to the world
Living as one broken soul
We once loved, and died
Inside of the only life
I thought I'd ever know.
