school is done for the year;
her mom is taking her back, again
to the mountains she will move.
I hope it works out this time
that both have changed their ways;
we've had our granddaughter for eight months
just hope her dreams will come true.
No more late night phone calls
or waiting up till three;
maybe now we'll take a vacation
that the two of us sure need.
If only it was that easy
once this fifteen year old leaves;
for her younger sister, by a year
has lived with us for eight weeks.
More problems are in store now
with her severe ODD;
strategies and outside help we'll need
to cope, to help her survive.
Author notes
Watching one pack and the other ready to remain, my hopes anad prayers are that both of our granddaughter's futures are filled with happiness and are better that what the past has been for them.

It's hard watching them leave. Teenagers are alot of work to raise no matter how docile or rambuncious they get. I hope everything turns out all right.

It sounds like you are loving grandparents with alot on your plate. Your poem does well to describe the details of what many parents go through. Well done...alby

Terrible teens, I feel for you, a mother should not have to go through it let alone a grandmother, You must be all heart,It is good that you can let other people in to say a kind word and a prayer, bless you.

Wow!
This sure is a moment of truth eh? My heart goes out to you. You'll be in my prayers! Glad you won a trophy. I think you should have a medal of honor! All the best of wishes for your grands. I found a correction for you to make:
More problems are in store now
with here [her?} severe ODD;[do you mean ADD or OCD? Never heard of ODD & I'm pretty hip to these things!]
strategies and outside help we'll need
to cope, to help her survive.
Whatever the Disorder I sure hope you get the help needed!

God bless you for saving your dear grand children. You are a blessing and will be rewarded in heaven. My prayers go out to you for the strength to carry on and the wisdom from above to guide your every moment. This is such a perilous time for children to be growing up. Your grandchildren are truly blessed to have you in their lives.
Be blessed.
