With you in my life
Nothing's simple
Things taken for granted
Slip away abruptly
In unnecessary chastisement
The safety of ignorance has been broken
Shattered, the shield of innocence
And for what?
Another being in my life
Another story to tell
Another set of rules to assimilate to
But looking at these past few moments
Before it is now a blur
But crystalline enough to know
You've left your mark
You've made your changes
Seeing the world through your eyes
And letting me embrace your virtues
I see that
With you in my life
The ice can always grow colder
And the fire will always grow warmer
The sweetest things don't come in wrappers
But rather behind closed lips
When I'm with you
Stars aren't the brightest things at night
Warmth doesn't come from fire
Friends don't always have to come first
And heaven's overrated.

Last one for probably quite some time. I usually don't have access to a computer for more than 5 minutes at a time these days...

Well I'm glad you posted something. It's always nice to read one of your poems after a not-so-great day. The mood in this poem is a little erratic, but it's sweet.
