Hidden in darkness was the breath of life,
waiting to be carressed as newborns do.
Birthing proved difficult with its' deep pain
and agony tempted to steal all joy.
Yet, many years of labor brought release,
offering strength born of weakness within.
Children's laughter paints smiles on my face
and allows freedom from frowns hidden pain.
Reunited family plants hope's garden
while tears of relief water newfound hope.
Creation of dreams brings frutation's glee
and visions of love thin once curdled blood.
Promises made echo in my mind's ear
and stops death in tracks from where it beckons.
Sweet smelling rain washes filth and its' grime,
exposing newness with gentility.
Inhaling tomorrow's expectation,
heavy steps lighten in their traveling
and murky paths show clarity's likeness,
allowing another day's welcoming.
