he said, "don't get me wrong, i'm not looking for romance"
he said, "don't love me, your love don't stand a chance"
she said, "it's okay, darling, i'll take what i can scavenge"
she said, "it's alright, anyway, this is just lust at first glance"

was not this what you wanted?
a new age Jezebel, decadence personified,
the mistress of Byzantine games
cheap and pretty and yours in a noncommittal way
well, i wanted you
Occam's razor would say "the perfect trade"
become a Jezebel in exchange for a black knight
but when everything is said and done
this phony queen of debauchery discovered
how Occam's razor could only slit her wrists
oh friends and neighbors, have you ever seen
a black knight so romantic, so full of gentleness
making cell phone love to his sweet sweet girl
who is an alcoholic with a hand-me-down heart
who is not me, the virgin Jezebel he left behind
***
just for the record, you broke a heart you didn't know even existed
Author notes
I thought it was what he wanted
Only it turned out that it wasn't..

To give your heart in full too soon can sometimes spell disaster, one need test the water before diving in head first, or should I say heart first. Your poem is an easy read, well written about the perils love can bring.

Seems like thats the way it always goes. We give them what they say they want, they change the game midway.
I liked the way the poem was written.. awesome.
