A poem for Embrandt

With a hint of his magical brush
He created so splendidly
Gruesome aristocrats into beautiful portraits

With shapeless faces
As they indulge themselves well
And sharp double chins
Like fairy tale’s witches
Beady eyes, pride of their blood
Hair of straw, and a faded brown

A touch of such vividness
That they exist within your eyes
A touch of detail to the last treads of their laces
A hideous beauty
A beauty that is made of truth
