Promise of the Rainbow

The Spring rains pelted the Earth for days
Sheets of rain flowed down the window pains
Skies of gray filled with ominous dark clouds,
lightening and thunder claps filled the sky

A sense of doom filled my entire being,
fear that never would the sun shine again.
I pressed my face against the cool glass
I traced my finger along the rain drops that fell.

The pitter patter of the drops lulled me to sleep
sending me into a fitful night of dreams.
Dreams of darkness and endless despair
dreams of being lost in a maze of confusion.

I awakened dazed and quite confused
disoriented as to my where abouts.
The rain still fell heavily from the sky
I let out a sigh of discouragement.

Would the rain ever end and the storm let up?
Would I forever be stuck at the bottom of the pit?
Answers to these questions seemed to elude me.
I just wanted sleep to wash over me and set me free.

But, just when the flicker of all hope seemed to die
I watched as the clouds parted in the sky.
The blue sky peeked through the thin opening
and the glistening of the golden sun shone through.

Most beautiful of all was the arch that crossed the sky.
From one end of the Earth to the other
was the magic of an array of different colors
from pink to red and green and yellow.

I ran outside to get a better look at what I saw.
The raindrops still fell and moistened my skin,
but now they held a whole new meaning.
The rainbow was so close it was as if I could touch it.

I wanted to hop onto it's arch and ride it's wave.
I felt so alive inside, rejuvinated
I was lost in the magic of this phenomenon,
equally lost in the meaning of this Rainbow

All hope had seemed to be lost in the rain
washing away my will to keep surviving.
But the Rainbow came and reminded me of it's Promise.
The Promise that the rain will not last forever!

I LOVE this. It is so inspiring and we all go through those stormy sky times and this reminds me that there is hope....that beautiful rainbow which is, in all reality a miracle unto itself. Love this.....love you!
