Cowboys love saddles, horses and cattle and such.
Sawdust floored bar rooms and women who are soft to the touch.
They love their freedom and think they’ll never get too old,
For riding the range and enduring the heat and the cold,
Cowboys love big hats and shirts that are really too loud,
And big trophy buckles of which they really are proud,
And wrangler blue jeans because they still are so slim,
And a one man horse that can only be ridden by him.
Cowboys love telling of riding the real rough stock,
Pay them no mind, because most of it is really just talk,
Of sunfishing broncs or ones that could turn on a dime,
Just smile and nod, It’s his way of passing the time.
Cowboys love Coffee and late evening campfire talk,
And big silver spurs with rowels that ring when they walk,
They wear fancy stitched boots with high bull dogger heels,
He might be sad but will never let on how he feels,
Cowboys love Ballads and all the sad songs that are sung,
Though grizzled and gray they always think they are young,
His joints may be stiff and one of his legs might be lame,
He might settle down but a cowboy will never be tame.

Another wonderful write, and I think the country music industry would love it as much as I! I play guitar and sing, and actually just sat here and put this to music. I really believe you may be able to do more with this than just post it here. It's worth a shot

Oh wait! You forgot to mention 'mama trains pickups and prison!' lol
You know I love it!

I love the last line the very most! Though it seems impossible to love one line of this poem more then others. Makes me wanna go cuddle up with a cowboy out under the stars
You are so talented, I always look forwards to reading what you write

This would make a great campfire song. My favorite line was the last one - he might settle down but a cowboy will never be tame. So true. Of course, that can be said of a lot of men, but particularly cowboys. I would send this around to some country singers. Throw a few choruses in there and you've got a hit!

Sounds like some very nice down to earth folks. Loaners maybe? There are great similarities to a truck driver I once knew. Very good description and as always I like the rhyme. Thanks for sharing your work, I enjoy it.
