Can we only be friends?

This really captures that insecurity we feel early in a relationship--something that, over time and learning one another, goes away (and by time, I mean years). I remember what that felt like, trying so hard not to put pressure, but really needing to know if I was going to get hurt. Thank you for helping me remember that through your poem.
