I thought i needed you but i didn't

When there was sorrow,
When there was only sadness and pain,
Where were you?

When i was disappointed,
When i was upset and hurt, and i saw no way out,
Where were you?

Overwhelming feelings, and life-changing events,
They happened to me and i needed your support but,
Where were you?

You weren't there for me, not once, not at all.
You gave fake support but you were so transparent.
You weren't there to cheer me up or wipe away my tears.
To comfort me with a hug, or make me feel any less alone.

And in accepting this, i made it seem like it was right.
I should have left then, because you made it worse.
Now i realise that all along i was strong enough to cope alone.
I didn't need your heartlessness around me to pull me down.
