Seven after Midnight

Everyone is watching clocks
Everone's afraid
Time is leaking like a sieve
There's more money to be made

There are taxes on the wages of sin
And the point is very clear
We're seconds from another catastrophe
We've got to get the f*ck out of here

So make a choice it's the final straw
We're all out for the count
The clock is ticking the seconds down
So tally up the final amount

Don't stop and stare they say it's rude
To be so obvious and rough
Time's a wasting don't you know
It's time to push the stuff

And if you love life the way you do
Then time watching can be a drag
It's better to be somewhat involved
Than to give a fig or fag

They're lining pockets and skimming cream
Right off the very top
Don't be shy just grab your share
Before the trickle stops

Soon it will be just too late
To make a run for it
The clock is ticking it's time to run
And get out of the sh*t

Because everyone is watching clocks
And everone's afraid
Time is leaking like a sieve
There's more money to be made...

I agree with Ravensdark, this poem has a gritty feel to it and it is really sad how in just a few verses you've pinned down pretty much the current state of the world. And you've written this in such a way that the people who indeed are like those described in your poem should feel ashamed of themselves.

Very well done, you used just enough of the prompt to link it and still told your own story.....I don't mind profanity at all so you can take those * out, nice gritty feel to it...sad in a way as it seems the world is very much how you decribe it....good luck
