Love and Time

Heaven sent beauty waiting for her man
Young and vibrant full of love to give
Naps for a while among her favorite things
Knowing he will be there to snuggle her in
Life in the years bring children come and gone
Just two again to love the past lived well
Now she waits for her man to arrive
Her hospital room covered with favorite things
Weakness crept in like a thief in the night
She knows he will be there to snuggle her in
He wheels in the room tears in his eyes
Removes his oxygen and joins his young bride
Together they fly that glorious night
To the place where love starts
High in the sky
Where love greets them
And snuggles them in

    My Dearest Brother,

This stung my eyes with tears this morning. I have seen this happen a few times, and a few times one of them left behind... Not sure which is sadder... I love the thought of two young lovers growing old and dieing together.. something very romantic about that.*sigh*

Like always you did a remarkable job on this one!

Best of luck in this contest!

    and love

Thank you Nyetta for the compliments on my poem. This poem came to me because both my parents (60+ years of marrage) are in the hospital tonight. I haven't slept all night. They are at that age anything could happen. Thanks again for the read. Don

Thank you Cyn for the heartfelt comment and compliments on this poem. It has some special merit to it for me. Life in a flash gets short. I see the elderly and feel this sadness. How could one ever get used to that inevitability of life. Happy you enjoyed it. Don
