A single smile
brushes in a zephyr breath,
ever change, inexplicably uncontrollable,
the satiated pause to clouds
over the mind's sky.
Never more than precious hug to the heart,
but bringing its glow,
which etches an irrevocable image,
pure and potent,
shuddering to the core
with an essence of ecstasy's opiate.
Whispers rise in the wonder,
this taste of paradise
fluttering in winged elation,
so riveting in its power,
yet a phantom, translucent and fleeting,
who visits by an appointment
that is not declared.
We can't explain all that it is
nor define how to make the euphoric magic last,
just welcome it as the host of joy's incense
savored and cherished
until the next blessing
brings another curl to the lips.
