In African, we too love deep.....

Africa will greet you with so warm a love.
It will welcome you as its own.
Tales of our lives shall you feast upon.
Your feet will waddle our virgin Savannah velds.
On our mountain springs, your thirst shall quench.

Africa’s songs, beautiful like the moon.
Will take your heart to new a height.
Ours  are trumpets of ivory.
A new love song will drum effortlessly.

I am of Sahara of the South,
Simple to the root.
I believe in words shared.
I believe in a love, a new experience.

Take courage little flower.
Dance and be glad,
You are a griot their son has loved:
You, the happiest  woman ever to be loved…

In Africa, we too love deep..!

    So Beautiful

Good morning my brother. Your words are so soft and beautiful to the eyes. You have painted a picture with your words of the Africa I always remembered. So much sadness and violence fills your continent too. It is very uplifting to know there is still peace and beauty of God, mankind and mother nature to be found there too. Thank you for this wonderful poem. You take care.

God Bless You and all the poeple of Africa. May God bless you all and bring p[eace to everyone's hearts.

    Always,
    Sister Sandy

A beautiful poem Nyasha, it is good that you paint a good picture of Africa, as all we seem to hear about is the negative side, but you have bought us the positive side.

An excellent poem and good luck in the contest...Mum

My friend Autumn-Rain asked about griot. Wikipedia tells me that he's a West African poet and praise singer.

    Apt poem

Man of Verses, this poem is timely. Where in Africa, there's a picture painted of famine, drought, coups, killings and bloodbath, this poem is so refreshing. That we can still say karibu, that we can walk on our savannah velds, that we can sing the song of humanity..and share. For though we be bogged with nature's vagaries, we have retained our warmth...we still love deep.

Keep up, Man of verses. Keep sloshing the quill, man.

Doco, thank u for a heartfelt comment. Karibu sana. Maputo, is quiet cool. Nothing changed. We are still the old self though mirrors are reporting grey on our hair.
