She lurks.
She listens.
The beauty of the human breath is dancing in the air
inviting her to spin along with it.
Her bright eyes flash toward the platinum moon
and her teeth make the smile play jestingly on her mouth.
She spins around with open arms
enthralled in the night,
only imagining what is to come for her
or what she will come to.
She leaves her home
her place of comfort
dressed like Cosmopolitan.
She heads to the streets of downtown in the night.
And she lurks.
And she listens.
She finds him.
A perfect beautiful combination of soul and flesh,
of human right and wrong.
She breathes it in.
Oh! How delightful are these morals and delusions of faith!
She lures.
She speaks.
He follows into the alley.
She rests her chin on his shoulder in embrace,
thinking of departure.
But no...wait.
She slips her fangs into his neck
and feeds deliciously on his life
and all he has ever loved.
They sway together in time with his slowing heart.
Now he is done
and she is alive.
She listens.
The beauty of the human breath is dancing in the air
inviting her to spin along with it.

Author notes
This is what the picture made me think of instantly. Vampires. It's my first vampire poem and I was kind of just letting my muse flow. I used the music reference in the title because a sonata is all about harmony and juxtaposition, just like what the vampire and the man have in this poem. Thanks for the inspiration, great contest.

Great imagination!
I really like the flow of your words, very sophisticated, it has you enraptured. Like the air of suspense and mystery in the piece. I think vampires are very poetic in their nature, to be able to have a taste of living, breathing human life.
