Beautifully Anointed

Breathtaking, your brilliance radiates
Consuming, you take my breath away
Until I really see you
and become your indulgence
Embedded in your sinking sand, I run from you

Truth unveils what lies behind
those beautiful diamond eyes
When the scales are removed from blinded eyes,
such as I
Notice impure motives and seductive lies,
leading her prey into the mouth of lions, waiting to be devoured

Depart from me, O Jezebel
Even though I want you so,
you are detrimental to my living,
as you are beautifully anointed

with poison

Such beautifully penned words here my friend! I especially loved this stanza. "beautiful diamond eyes" is a lovely metaphor. Great work.

I enjoyed reading this even though I don't see where the cheer me up part came into play. The imagery and word choice were wonderful in this. Thanks for entering

I really liked the idea in the fourth line about becoming an indulgence to another. Very nice phrasing. Just some great images throughout the piece, though I think my favorite is the "beautifully anointed" bit.

    HOODWINK!

This is a powerful poem of realization, seeing things as they are and not as we had hoped them to be. Timing is critical, is it too late? Loved the punch of the last line! Well done!
