Unmusical Chairs

It's always hardest to dance
when there is no music...

hanging on to silence
in broken heeled stilettos
and champagne covered
party dresses

we made the fiddlers play our game
late into the night
not knowing that the strings would snap
to sting our jaded hides

swollen and blistered
left cleaning
broken glass off ballroom floors

we crumple, discouraged
onto abandoned wooden thrones
to hold our breath
impatiently

as we wait for the music to come back

This was great. Regarding the other contest, you really took up the title of the contest in a great poem! I thought it was really quite good and showed consequences of action clearly and with beautiful imagery and metaphors.
Congratulations and good luck in the contest.
