A beached whale, I lie dying,
Not on a sandy shore,
But in a waterbed well.
Already, the faint aroma of my
Decomposition
Floats on the breeze.
Soon,
They will pump me dry,
Spew out my contents
To water their garden,
Dispose of my limp remains.
No more will I
Jiggle with their mating
Or lie, placid,
As they watch the Bones marathon.
Today, I surrender my place
To another.
Tonight, a new waterbed mattress
Will cradle them and
Listen as they recount
The day's events to each other
Before they fall
Asleep.
Not on a sandy shore,
But in a waterbed well.
Already, the faint aroma of my
Decomposition
Floats on the breeze.
Soon,
They will pump me dry,
Spew out my contents
To water their garden,
Dispose of my limp remains.
No more will I
Jiggle with their mating
Or lie, placid,
As they watch the Bones marathon.
Today, I surrender my place
To another.
Tonight, a new waterbed mattress
Will cradle them and
Listen as they recount
The day's events to each other
Before they fall
Asleep.
Author notes
Prompt: Nature's largeness
Unfortunately, I will not have time today to write a poem to the contest parameters. *stares at bed* *whimpers*
Wrestling with leaky waterbed,
Soaked waterbed liner, and mold
Today--
A gargantuan undertaking,
By my standards,
But not terribly natural
Or majestic, alas.

Ahh' the demise of a water-bed...
sounds as if it had a good life though!
All seems to point to a 'largeness in life' to me but no, not in a way I would have anticipated for the prompt.
Mind you the thought of millions of people all asleep or otherwise in their beds conjures up food for thought on a rather grand and glorious scale!
Perhaps it just needed one more stanza, to bring it into the realms of 'awesome nature' which would have been perfect.
Thank you for bringing this to us
