Celebrating Yem's Moxie

Missing image
I write to celebrate a bottle of Moxie,
quite shapely, not at all boxy.

It refreshes and invigorates,
empowers and rejuvenates.

While imparting an essence lively and foxy,
devotees can attest to its true orthodoxy!

Author notes

I had intended to place this in Yemassee's guestbook,
but since there is no edit there, i am taking
the safe route and posting it here!

All questions about Moxie should be directed to Yem.

Words come alive when answered in kind.

I find those graphics so very well done!
Moxie is almost a synonym to Yemassee, and you have that face in the O, which even looks a little like Mayne!
Indeed a toast to Moxie, the poem and graphics, great work M-C

      Thanks, Mari.

The face first appeared on Sir Ima,
then just wanted to pop out of the O.

I had found the pic on the Mari/Mayne page,
but the drawing was small, hard to get it
as I wanted it to appear! The pen is not always
      my collaborative friend!

I just went to page 18 and saw. He seems to like (Ima I mean) his residence there. I shall see if I can write a funny introduction for who Sir Ima exactly is...or isn't.

    Thanks again.

Yem, this will take you to the "Since Day One" page on the Bettyboards. If you click on the Caption thread,
page 18 you will see Sir Ima's shy attempt to
    intrigue the inhabitants.

On the same index page is the Gallery, where
some of my AP posts are shown, but on the black
    background.

I like. I'll see if I can get it on Ima's page later today...Ima's has just a bronze account so it may not work. Sometimes I can get it to work, sometimes I can't.

Hey, he may be a well-dressed Cucumber but Ima still has to pay to get into the Keystone Theater! Peeking at the new Chaplin movie is not allowed!

He does look as if he is watching
        from the wings, enthralled with
the Chaplin feature. Or he may
have snuck in to see Bonko performing
        rather than the intended film!!!!!

You're making it too hard to choose!

Definitely need a Moxie account, or at least Yem needs a Moxie poem dedicated to them all. "The colors of Moxie" or some such title. Will see.

Playing is fun. I guess that is redundant.

Hey, you are the changeable one.

Eventually there will be a broader selection from which to choose!

Oh, God no not another account!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, I have too many now. Eventually I will ask a Mod to combine a few.

My page looks fancy now. Now I just need a quotation about Moxie and it'll be perfect.

          Thanks again!

"Just Make It Moxie for Mine"

Yes Moxie was quite creative in those days. They also created a horsemobile, a car with a wooden/metal? horse on top and the driver sat on the horse to drive. Ok, I never said they were good ideas. There are still a couple still in existence and they sometimes drive it in the Moxie parade in Lisbon Falls.

Harray to all the communities and organizations that celebrate and preserve
the yestrdays! Hmmmm...some Moxie could be sent to the big white house....but too late, it seems, for the current residents
to learn from history's or even their own
                mistakes.

Bush has quite enough Moxie! Send the old boy some sleeping pills...no wait, he uses those when he deals with the economy.

Bush was a poor student in school. He didn't learn from history's mistakes.

            You are very welcome.

Sorry to throw so many at you,
but I had just gotten to it, and there are so
            many possibilities to explore!!!

Will go back and check your "fancy" page again!
  • I was so caught up in the graphics before I didn't even read the poem! lol

The old Tim Sample (Maine humorist) line,

"The girls will think you're foxy if you chug-a-lug your Moxie and don't show the pain."

Anyone who doesn't like the taste of Moxie will attest to the pain part.

The old ads about Moxie's were great. They made it sound like drinking Moxie could cure every ill known to mankind. We Moxieholics still claim a few of them. I swear it'll put hair on your head if you need it.

I need to re-read the Moxie page again.
The claims relate to the tonic salesmen
selling the cure-all in a bottle---
from the back of a wagon.

Compare the two oranges---which fits the color better?
    • This one is probably closer in color and I like how the word stands out and still keeps that little secretive face...which could also be the Moxie man's face. Guess I'll go back and replace the other with this one. I need a separate account with just Moxie images. Hmm, how many accounts do I have again? lol

You know, there are people who would never understand
this craziness! But something just because one wants

It shows up better on some---and on others I superimposed
      the color on the O.

Just checked the color---I am way too red, right?

      Will do some more.

I'm celebrating that the first time in a zillion years
      I'm not working/painting 12 hours a day!!!! I actually
      have playtime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great! Though 12 hours sounds like a headache waiting to happen to me. I get headaches when I concentrate on things like writing or other tedious work for too long.

You don't have to make it orange, unless you are going to play anyway. I don't want to be a pain in the butt.

I'm currently working on getting one of your Moxies on Yem's page, that and one of the old silent movie actress Muriel Ostriche who used to advertise Moxie.

LOL, (at your author note) If you really want me to remove the neon one I will, but I like all the Ima ones. Ok, now I have to steal one of these from you for Yem's face image. I don't think John Cleese the funny walker will mind. Of course just yell if you'd prefer I didn't.

Maybe the small one for my face image, the bigger one for my page...

Thanks! Oh my, just saw a few more below, will go take a better look. Tweak any in orange?
