Muse Sings on Rhyme

Missing image
If by poetry we mean
thoughts or feelings on a page
transcribed allowing each to gauge
inner meanings, purposed theme,
then rhyme – which frames with golden gleam
life’s page – may seem to set the stage
for deeper dreams, reflexions sage,
than those blank verse supplies on stream.
Perhaps analogy we glean
through pixels which excite, enrage
right brain thinking as from cage
impressions rise to set fresh scene,
role reverse despite restraints,
anticipate ‘free verse’ complaints...

    GREAT****

From my first impression, I think it started out great and then got to the middle and started to drift a bit. Then you came in and finished the poem of with that last 'free verse' line and that made up for it all. I see that line #8 is a bit rocky and then line #9 although it fits the syllables reads a bit weird. At the end of line #12 I was thinking 'Scenes' instead of scene.

I really like this poem and the image. The title fits snug right in with the subject, Great Work

Poetry is many things to many people but what ever topic it is on it has to engage and stimulate the mind of the reader for it to be effective. I think left and right are always present in every poem and though one may be more dominant than the other, together they produce a harmonious piece of writing which sets the mind free to explore further. No complaints where this rhyme is concerned as it is what makes poetry live for me

I, too, think poetry sings if analogy and rhyme excite one's thinking, or stirs inner musings to depths beyond the mundane, but I am in awe of the intricate use of language you use in your extraordinary poetry, even in shorter verses like this.

"then rhyme – which frames with golden gleam
life’s page – may seem to set the stage
    for deeper dreams, reflexions sage,"

What is it about writing that makes thought seem more concrete? A thought is a thought is a thought... or is it? Anyway, this poems does exactly what you speak of in its content, and beautifully. ~ Karen

wow what a wonderful description of differant themes of poetry each writter has his or her theme and style of writing and as we read differant styles we then try something new to experiment as there are so many forms of poetry we can never possibly learn them all I personally like rhyme and free verse your poem was a wonderful rhyme

Everyone has their own tastes when it comes to poetry, and personally I'm a free verse writer, but that doesn't mean I can not appreciate a good rhyming poem.

Your rhyme definately is consistant, without 'pedestrian rhyme' in it as I've seen people call it that way.

I don't know much about sonnets either (I'm glad I figured it out by myself it is one actually ) but the flow is a tad bit off here and there. Not sure though if it's supposed to be like this with this form.

    Keep it up!

    well written

i think you are a really skilled poet and writer. i am actually glad i added you to my favorites list because your poetry is much more skilled and different than the usual poetry you find daily. i like the different. and with my vocabulary knowledge and the unusage of simplified words by you, it truly makes for enjoyable reading. (love the photo)
