God, Fool, and Yourself in Me and You

Look up at me and you see a god,
A god that will not rule you with an iron rod
But rather let you hang yourself by your actions
Testing all of your reactions
Seeing my aura in all its color
All the while you admire this god's valor

Look down at me and you see a fool,
Drowning in my tearful pool
Realizing that I make mistakes too
As the one I love I woo
But not being a perfect man
From love I feel like love is a fan
Blowing away everything that I believe in
Committing every known sin
Proving that I am the court jester everyone laughs at
Just because I acted like a door mat

Look straight at me and you see yourself
Sitting on a cupboard shelf
Waiting for whatever it is that you really want
By letting your goals in life daunt
You see the good and bad that you posses within
By seeing my inner sin
Trying to win
Only to find the opposite bin

But one day
Who is to say
That we both will find the true god
Gain the ground that we have trod
Inside and outside of us
Cherishing the fool
We have had inside and begin to drool
Not only seeing yourself
Or myself on a cupboard shelf
But rather move on and find true love
That will fit us and our lives like a glove
Allowing everything we want and desire
To fall into place singing all else like a fire

Author notes

x-PROMPT:
"Look up at me and you see a god, look down at me and you see a fool, look straight at me and you see yourself."
--Charles Manson

I broke the prompt up and used it within my poem to add to the meaning a bit.
