Through the Valleys

Psalm 84: 5-7

Happy are the people whose strength

is in You,

whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.

As they pass through the Valley

of Baca,

they make it a sources

of springwater,

even the autumn rain will cover it

with blessings.

They go from strength to strength

each appears before God in Zion.

Through the Valleys

How our soul is soaked

in the Valley of Tears (Baca)

where we walk

no matter how much we have trusted in the Lord.

For God's promise is not to remove the valleys,

but that we shall pass through them.

Blessed is a state of life in the Lord's eyes

that doesn't shield from sorrow or pain,

And in the middle of our walk

His loving hands

gives us springs of hope

in the middle of its desert.

Grace brings cool autumn's refreshing

as provision to immerse the spirit

within the waters of His love.

Knowing how the steps of faith

bring the destination before His throne.

For a while, the storms blind our eyes

unto His presence

until we think wonder how

we can endure another test of our hearts.

Be silent and listen

as His winds of mercy come,

never enough to end our suffering

or explain every tear drop,

but to grant us the strength of trust

to reach the next oasis of calm.

Author notes

May the God, Jehovah Shalom, "the Lord is our peace," bring you strength and His touch to ease your pain.

    So Beautiful & True

This is just beautiful. Oh yes the Lord didn't say we wouldn't have sorrow that is for sure. This poem is so beautiful and I love the scripture before the poem This brought me great comfort as though God himself was meeting me right were I'm at and accepting me just as I am, yet encouraging me to be silent and listen to his mercy and to grant me strength of trust to reach the next oasis of calm(Oh I can't wait this is where my hope is, thank you so much. For this poem helped me to remember there will be a time when things won't be so hard. An oasis of calm, I just loved that part. Thank you for your loving encouraging words of wisdom and best of luck in the contest.
