blow

addiction

White indulgence, lines of pleasure
sought out by all the party people.
Get in groups, now it's those people
who lay strewn amongst the floor

Let me just collect myself,
I can do one more.

Escaping in the clutches of a gripping powder,
making you its slave.
All hail, mighty master,
take me away.
I indulge in what you bring me
and in how I can escape.

Must it be so powerful against my will
that I can not be me?
Apparently, it will defeat me
and one day, I will tap out.

    "Let me just collect myself
    i can do one more"
i can so relate to that. good luck in my contest but you need to put your AP name in author notes
    spaced out.

  • Wow.. this was deeply edged
    with such power & depth.
I could relate as I've unfortunately
got mixed in that crowd and
did it for about a month,
but thank God I did not get
    addicted.

    This was amazing,
    keep writing such REAL
    poems loaded with emotion.

The picture itself really hit home for me...a past I haven't thought about in a long LONG time....But somtimes, (as portrayed here) pain is what it takes to make it to the healing. Well done.

    Warmest,
    Mylee

I think this is an interesting title and the picture matches well. it is rather pathetic some people think this is a way to have a good time.

Oh. This is an interesting poem that you have going on here. I guess I hadn't really connected with your title when I clicked on it. But once I saw the picture, I understood what it was going to be about. I think it's really sad about drugs and how people become so very hooked on them. I would like it better if they didn't but that's not an easy thing for anyone to control.

This is a very good commentary on society I like the way it flows together so well and creates a nice rhythm you paint a very clear picture here - and did it brilliantly!

    Keep writing

It is nothing new and society's shame that it cannot rid itself of this horror, You have taken me, with your poem where I wish no other need go in real terms, vividly understood.

Such a sad part of life and society you write about here - yet it seems to be a part of the lifestyle of many of the rich and famous - tough when the pooer try to keep up and then get hooked as well.

A very powerful piece! I am all too familiar with the effects of drugs, my youngest son was strung out on meth for about two years, it was horrible! I have seen so many loose everything from drugs, and including alcohol, but most of all they lose themselves, and it is heartbreaking. This is brilliantly crafted!

It's hard enough being on prescription drugs that create a dependency so this is so powerful and, sadly, so understandable.

    This write hit me hard

I know of how it so taps out young lives and often they become hooked with friends and through parties so afraid to show fear they join in only they know not their is only one end for most . If you have seen it you know it to be true how so many of our young lose

    Souls Inside out

I have seen the power of its lines
how it has killed young men in their prime
Beatone about the head all bones crushed
just for the opertunity for that ultimate rush

A young man 28 looking today through an old mans eyes
Never seeing his own children the tears they cry
Body riddled in pain yet the demon dwells within
Whispers he does hear replies theirs no end

Misery loves company so you look to your friends
    your addiction they so depend
For when they are tapped out they always have you
to collect what they can no longer afford to get their muse

Eyes of death Minds on hold
dont take it dont take that lonely road
For often in time the alley you will stay
when all those so called friends turns on you one day

Please stop and turn around look at your loved ones around
Ask yourself which life will you take
When your mind needs to be fed
    at their expense one day

My nephew has been beaton half to death
he lets others use his truck for just a touch of the drug
Calls his family not knowing where he is after being gone for two weeks and has themm come to the dangerous part of town to find him
He is dirty and at times no clothes freezing
I ask what form of torure do the young today need to enjoy themselves who shall they take with them to the grave for every drug addict has recruted a new member so tell me what child will you take with you to a most painful death .
Or will you say no and live to not regret life in its fullest

wow..you really manage to get the fee of the rug in this poem...
Must it be so powerful against my will
that I can not be me?
    Apparently, it will defeat me
    And one day
    I will tap out

    these lines are so cool..
i like your choice of words, and the way you put those two lines in the middle in italics..
anyways, great write and keep them coming!
