The journey can be long with many a mile
reaching the end of my rainbow was surely worthwhile
for the colours that greeted me came from your eyes
and I knew I had found my eternal, earthly prize.
To the end of life's road together we ride
seeking new rainbows with you by my side,
yet none will compare to the one where we met
for the end was the beginning of the best part of life yet.
Sweet surprises and troubles have we both found
knowledge of one another most deeply profound,
so many more rainbows there are to discover
for you are my best friend, partner and lover.
That rainbow so precious where I first found you
is the one where the next pages of my life started anew,
from sepia tones to bright colours I was moved
for the worth of our love I have finally proved.
