Living on Phone Calls and Dreams

We’ve gone from being stable
To wavering
I have no control over this
Neither do you
You were taken away from me
Far too soon
Visit you in my dreams
Only to wake with fresh tears on my face
Coming to terms with the reality
It was only a dream
With you gone, I can only feel you in my heart
Wishing I could hold you every night
Praying for just one moment to be with you
Looking for the end
Until we are united again
Holding onto memories of your face
Keeping them here, with me in this place
Why’d they take you away?
Don’t they realize I can’t handle this pain?
My only relieve is whispered through a phone
But a phone is no comparison
Gripping onto it like oxygen
Hanging onto every word
Not knowing for sure when I’ll hear your voice again
We say I love you and goodnight
And when I hang up and reality settles back in
Tears flow, unchecked
I can’t hide them
I just hold onto my tear stained pillow
And cry myself to sleep
To meet you in my dreams

This is a poem which many can relate to who are away from their loved one. I remember feeling like this when I was young and my hubby had to go away on one military duty or another, and we wouldn't see each other for long periods of time.

    A good piece, Sarah

Aww such a sad ending, but not entirely hopeless. I like that about the poem ^-^ it was all sad, but not a hopeless sad type thing.
