Tea-Time For Two?

Missing image

I知 sitting in my garden
with jam and scones and cream,
a pot of finest china tea
I知 waiting for my dream.

He promised me some coffee,
sugared donuts for a treat,
we said let痴 meet beneath the tree
and share a meal so sweet.

A linen covered table,
the flowers look just fine,
soon tea time will be over
and refreshment will be wine.

Daytime turns to evening
as the golden sun sinks low,
blue sky turns to inky black,
the moon puts on a show.

I知 sitting in my garden
still mellow and content,
I hope my guest is happy
with the wishes I have sent.

I値l leave him drinking coffee,
breakfast tea for me will do,
we壇 love to sit and talk a while
for now our dreams will do.

I must say that your readers are happy; this is wonderful! What a delight to read a poem with perfect rhyme and meter that opens doors to delightful feelings and imagery in one's mind. Your guest must have been American; we do love our coffee.

This deserves three happy cubes of sugar:

    Love,
    Amera♥

Nice write Sue, you slip from octamatre to septenary to hexametre all the way through, i'm not sure if you're aware of it, and in some cases it makes little difference because of the nature of the three metres, but it can also make it tricky to read.

This is a fine way to spend a sunny English afternoon and evening. This could be in the garden but it also reminds me of Henley for some reason though, because scones with jam and cream and a good pot of English tea served in bone china are a great tradition there. All the better when shared with someone special
