Somehow pen and paper seem trivial
And even unbecoming to constrain
You into regimented words that speak
With rusty sincerity and explain
To you their master’s feelings. But even
So, I’ll immodestly attempt the task.
I’m not the only one to notice you:
As you walk past, sunflowers turn their heads
Towards you in an unashamed attempt
To capture your uncapturable grace.
In your eyes reflected are a thousand
Dragonflies that sparkle, and carry with
Their fragile wings a dazzling display of
Majesty more delicate than subtle words.
The wind feels obliged to gently blow
Your dress around your heels, as if it were
A playful friend that can only muster
The courage to tap you on the shoulder.
Even the sun has to take a moment
And observe your assured fragility.
But most potent in your arsenal is your
Beguiling smile that disarms any sense
Of poise and makes the world sit up and notice.
We don’t need amps or volts to light our rooms:
Your lips move to set a blazing fire of
Uncontrollable magnificence,
Glorious shades of splendour seep into
The walls until the whole room is painted
In your brilliance. The world takes a breath:
It’s never seen someone so beautiful as you.
