Breaking forth from words that define eras,
I try to find something unsaid to say.
Allow me a moment to take a breath
Of your honest, tangled hair that gently
Wraps around your shoulders, protecting a
Fragile warmth only people can provide;
A sense of longing and belonging fills
Around your slim waist in the same way that
My hands used to, encompassing both
Everything and nothing at the same time.
Lying in bed, fully clothed but naked,
An uncompromising wave of affection
Is translated through other people’s words,
Filling the room with a muted longing
For the future; a mutual regret
For the past. The present becomes washed
Away, dreaming of things to do and things
That have been done. This is the real tragedy.
Hands that clasp each other seem timelessly
Mortal: a declaration of how we
Care little for time; less for ourselves.
Cynics stand, imposing, with their unique
Ability to turn hope into ash;
An undying devotion mutates with
A sickness born to cloud the hearts of men.
But all of this disappears with the freckles
On your face. Small dots of pigmented skin
That provide tenderness unknown to
Those who try to scald it. That something so
Seemingly insignificant provides
A reason, is a testament to love.

wow. this is a beautiful sentimental piece. it's a wonderful feeling to be in love and you have expressed that so well here. great work
-
ooo

The feelings are amazing and so sweet with just the right amount of romance.
The flow was good though the last paragraph felt a bit jumpy.
The ending was good as it provided closure and related to the title. good luck in the other contest and this one too!!

Yay.
This is just generally pretty. And is good for people self-conscious about their freckles.
Benefits everyone really. -
