Afternoon swallowed by misery
Shrouded by a thin veil of contempt.
The many tendrils of pain tear through it,
Please hear my cries.
The clock keeps ticking
[tick tock] as I try to escape this place.
The phone rings, "Hell[o]"
Please hear my cries.
I pace, I cry, I scream.
I try to wake up
to Be[lie]ve this place is real!
Please hear my cries.
There they find me,
in a cast of delusions.
[Falling] in eternity, Forgotten.
Please hear my cries.
Death is knocking,
[die]ing to hear my voice.
Frozen heart is shattering.
Please hear my cries.
All I can do is spend my time,
[my afternoon] here
lost in misery,
shrouded by contempt
[For]ever longing for [some]one
to hear...

I really like this. It has to be the best poem I've read all day. Great job.

I keep wanting to break out in song this is rather lyrical...the use of he repetition works well. It makes me feel the song in my head you have created is staying for awhile longer.
Brilliant take on the prompt. Good luck in the contest.
