Double Rainbow in the Sky

Missing image
Atmospheric conditons.
message from above?
Double rainbow in the sky.

"Somewhere Over the Rainbow,"
ukulele version lingering in the air,
participants exiting, asking why...

"Is that Tim up in the sky?"
"Is that God welcoming the
Irish Catholic schoolboy?"

Commentators seated outside the door,
ready with their questions,
but the angels painted in joy.

A mystical finale
for the Irish wake of tales,
laughter and tears.

Overwhelming implication,
God's got Tim in heaven,
no more fears.

      It was such a moment!
I saw it only thru the TV screen,
as I was watching the news converage.
Such a commentary, as if by God,
on the life of this journalist.

You are lucky to have experienced
      a remarkable double rainbow!

I saw a triple rainbow not long ago. What a special sight that was! A lovely poem with sensitive words coming from a sensitive mind. Lovely...alby

      Thank you, alby.
The particular joy of this one
was the unique sharing, not only
with all the attendees at the
memorial service, but all of DC,
      and the world of television,
as it flled the whole screen,
not only at that moment, but
      in repeated broadcasts thruout
      the day and nite, and
      on the next Sunday!

final stanzas as always! a very nice tribute to a much missed anchor. i like the idea of implications, nature always implies something right? should really keep its opinions to itself more...

In this instance, I think Nature couldn't control itself,
just had to add to the eulogies, particularly with
"Somwhere Over the Rainbow" being strummed
inside the doors. Had to let all know
Tim was taking in the whole scene
      from heaven's doorway.

Note: the wildest, most colorful planet,
        multi-hued, with a river-like ocean
        to cross.

How crazy am I? You mention a ukulele and then "Tim" and I'm thinking, "Tiny Tim!" lol. I was slightly off.

True it's sad that Tim Russert died, but it's also heartwarming to see how everyone seemed to like him, Liberal, Conservative, both seemed to appreciate his fair play, intelligence and geniality.

Somehow missed this yesterday. I got playing with the contest and adding a few poems on OP.

I just saw the rainbow and planet one on your reply to Gaze, I like that one!

      No tiptoeing through the tulips,
but the ukulele version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" recently given network attention by
someone you don't know, as not a follower
of the Pop scene, Idol.(Jason Castro did quite a
      good version with his uke.)

You summed Tim up in your description.
The loss intensified by the suddenness,
a quick comment as he was about to go into
the recording booth to do the "Meet the Press"
      voice-overs, and then..........no more, down,
no warning. The other "Irish Catholic schoolboys"
in his close group, Mike Barnacle, Chris Matthews
and Pat Buchanan(all of MSNBC) in disbelief,
      wondering why.

Yes, you do have a task before you, selecting
the winners from among many sparkling gems.

I rather liked the "planet" illusion as well,
      in the rainbow scene.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

The picture is beautiful, is it a photo? The meditation on Tim is a little sad, but at the end I felt a thrill of hope. May it be so, and may we see again our loved ones who have gone. I like the rhymes, you slipped them in very nicely.

Aaagghhh--I keep getting logged off---will try again.

I originally saw the rainbow on the TV screen as
people were leaving the service. From the comments
it appeared almost miraculous to them.

Couldn't get a copy, so I found this in photobucket,
looking just as pictured on the screen.

I have been illustrating with my impromptu sketches
of late, but this one needed the photo. But of course
I can still play with it to vary the effects!!

Summer!!!!!! So good to see you.

      This actually happened yesterday.
Just as all the guests were leaving JFK center
after the memorial for a beloved journalist,
a huge double rainbow appeared across the sky,
greeting them as they walked out the doors.
