jennifer

My name is Jennifer, traditionally spelled
Two n's and one f, a name most famously held
By Lopez, Love Hewitt, Jason Leigh, and Jones
A name that has caused me multiple groans
To find anything with my name is pretty rare
From cups to keychains to barrettes for my hair
Another thing that's not a delight
Noone can ever spell my name right
I blame it on Gennifer Flowers you see
They always try to spell my name with a G
But what's the use to really complain
Because I really can't change my name
Well I guess I could but the question is Why?
If you call my new name, I'll look at the other guy
So I'll stick with Jenny or Jenna or Jenn
And just buy a mug labeled for Gwen
It's close enough, besides we're all related
Guess it could be worse I could be called David

Author notes

no offense to any daves or davids! it went with my rhyme scheme note:Gennifer Flowers is a real person and does spell her name that way

It must be nice to have a traditional name...I sometimes hate my name, because it can be pronounced in sooo many different ways (and you know that as well as I do). But I suppose it must be boring, too.

I really like how you did this, though. verra verra funneh!

Oh I know, I used to be called Gwen Stefani as I spell my name with an F instead of a PH. I also had the stef - fanny joke, which really wound me up. Guess names suck anyway, can't be bad as my old friend in Primary School Joe-King Stevie Oliver King (S-o-King). That would be terribly embarassing. old headmaster was called Mr Bumfluff too! shocking! Poor man!

haha I like how random this poem is, yet at the same time, how powerfully the humor is delivered. I love poems about rants, and this one was great. My favorite part was when you said you'd look at the other guy. It felt like a very realistic and clever observation. well done!
