You get what you want in your struggle for riches
in the contest for power and riches you will achieve
as the world will amply reward those efforts
but go swim in the mirror and find who is there
See what that person really has to say
as it isn’t your neighbor, or daughter or wife
who you are seeing and judgment you must give
but the person who counts most is now looking back
Forget everyone else, please this one individual
as he’s with you from now until you no longer exist
and you have passed the hardest test of all
if that person swimming in front of you is your friend.
So walk or run in the world, grabbing all that you can
fool the entire world as you pass through the years
but if you can’t swim beside that man in the mirror
you will have nothing to keep but heartache and tears

wonderfuly done daddy

i love you -
wow this is an outstanding poem. you have a lot of truth through out the entire poem.. while reading this poem this saying came to mind "to thine own self be true". because in the end its the person staring back from the mirror that we need to be friends with..
Fantastic poem..
good luck in the contest

If you can't love yourself, nothing else really matters. You really will never recognize the love of others. Thanks for the kudos
