Afterglow

Missing image

To lie upon our silken bed
your body cradles mine,
bathed in dappled moonlight
imbibing sweet red wine.

To lie here in the Afterglow
and listen to our hearts,
passions slowly ebbing
as fever pitch departs.

Embraced within our loving
all senses at their height,
our lips not quite so fervent
but awash with sheer delight.

Soft words of affirmation
whispered on the breeze,
eyelids closed in slumber
sweetest kisses tease.

To settle down together
spooning in our bed,
the Afterglow subsiding
as you kiss my sleepy head.

To waken in the morning
and feel your skin on mine,
remember night time passions,
the moonlight and the wine.

  • This so works.

Fine thing to read first thing in the morning.
Makes me want to go back to bed.

    Thanks for this.

Poetic art with a sensual heart
and the joys of sexual bliss.
It isn't fair, I do declare,
that you can write like this!

    Excellent stuff, Sue.

    Cheers,
    Bill

Smooth and silky and very sensual!

  • I liked this part of your trilogy the best. It's nicely expressed, every word adds to the sensuousness of the poem. It's sexy without being tacky. Like a sculpture, what's left out is as important as what's included.

    Romantic

It's great to see romance isn't dead. I don't have it right now but I do remember what it was like and you captured it very well.

The perfect ending to your trilogy. I'm glad your night went so well, all you need now is to get it out of the poem ...
