I remember the day as if
it was yesterday.
Two planes, filled with
passengers going home.
Where was the Air Force
to protect us?
That day all of America wept.
That is when our world changed.
No longer safe to fly without a long
process just to safely board.
Do we remember our fallen heroes?
Do we cry for what was ?
Or do we merely bow our heads
on that certain day of the year.
The day we wept.
it was yesterday.
Two planes, filled with
passengers going home.
Where was the Air Force
to protect us?
That day all of America wept.
That is when our world changed.
No longer safe to fly without a long
process just to safely board.
Do we remember our fallen heroes?
Do we cry for what was ?
Or do we merely bow our heads
on that certain day of the year.
The day we wept.

Aww, this was deeply empowering,
emotional & heartfelt.
So beautifully expressed, your thoughts .
Thanks for entering & best of luck -
It certainly was a day that all of us wept that's for sure. I believe that all of us cried on that day.
Thanks for your entry

Thank you for a beautiful entry. The background is fabulous. And so true we did weep. My wonder is why all of the warnings were ignored. Why did those in power ignore it? I blame not the military but those who are in charge of it and those who make the decisions for our country's sake.
Thank you.

Wow this is so awesome of a write. I loved the background. The eagle with tears fits the tone of this poem so very well! I want to thank you for joining this contest that I just wanted to help honor these fallen heroes and with the help of you and all the other wonderful writers. I hope that in heaven they know that we are honoring them.

Now this left me speechless, it's so sad and touching. You see I got married on Sept 11 2002 and for me that does take some of the pain away, but you can never forget. And this poem is an inspiring reason why.
-
Very touching poem that pays tribute to those who perished in the greatest disaster of our time, and also paying homage to those that continue to fight against the forces that conspired to carry out such a vindictive act.
-
Congratulations on the Silver.. You did an outstanding job with the prompt.. your poem was beyond words for me. I do believe that this day should never be forgotten.. thank you for remembering all of the people who died on this tragic day.. and yes your title says it all.. the day we wept.. and we as a nation should still be doing just that. and never should the world forget such a terrible event.
again Congratulations on the Silver

Wow this is excellent. I think our troops and fallen heros should be remembered everyday not just once a year.

-
Wow very effective poem. Makes you think about people and our society today that no one can even get a plane home without the threat of unsafety..it is a shame. i really enjoyed it. short and simple. showed the absence of the people that died tradgically.
