You keep standing there
Staring-hoping-waiting
For something to happen
For your reflection to change
For you to become what you always wanted to be
And then you get to thinking
What is it that you want to be?
What are you trying to accomplish?
What are you living for?
Who is it that you are trying to become?
Who exactly... are you?
You look around the room and think
Where are you?
Why are you there?
How did you get there in the first place?
You try to think back
But nothing comes to mind
Everything is blank
You cannot remember anything
You begin to panic
You knew everything
Just a few minutes before
Just a little while ago
You used to know everything
It slipped through your fingers
When you weren't paying attention
It escaped your mind
When you were too busy looking
At your own reflection
The faces of the people
In the pictures on the walls
Mean nothing to you now
But you know they once meant something more
So much more
Now they are just people
Strangers you can't remember
One by one, the pictures fall
The frames crashing on the cemented floor
That you could have sworn there was carpet before
And the walls turn a dull white
Blinding and bright
And empty
Everything that was something
Is now nothing
You look back at your reflection
Your eyes wild and scared
Your face contorted with fear
But you don't recognise it
You don't remember it
It's unfamiliar to you
You step away and ask yourself...
Who are you?
Author notes
Don't know where this came from... Just kinda popped in my head...
