He is young while others come and go: a satyr
roaming with the pack of Pan’s bright people,
bringing satisfaction to the women who,
mistaking lust for constancy, open up to him...
She is but a slip, a beauty of her kind,
who calls with just a gesture,
who challenges with apple-echoes:
show me how you love me...
He barks a laugh and vaunts his strength,
his pattern of seduction easily displayed,
his hurricane that never fails
once the dance begins...
She promises, over and again, singing:
give me proof of honesty...
He follows her: storm and cycle, Autumn,
Spring: so cruel, it turns to legend...
He tires at last and turns away: no woman
can refuse him so,
no-one but a playful nymph,
disguised to tame his foolishness...
She opens up her arms to him, this time
for real: this time to mark her victory
but the satyr stalks away,
sly as any demi-god...
She follows him, calling out his name
as he leads her back the way they’d come,
through dark woods and over Nature’s breasts:
pursuing Pan’s bright pipes...
They revel in each other’s tears
born of brave romance:
children in a fantasy, as are we all,
tethered to the pendulum of life...

PAN'S class of demigods or spirits derived, it would seem, from this god Pan. They resemble traditional representations of Pan and of Satyrs. They copulate with both humans and nymphs, and also, on occasion, with animals, particularly she-goats! Wow! We are really into fantasy here.
This tale reminds me of the Triumph of Pan by Poussin:

Apple echoes alludes, clearly to the Greek mythology of a race between a youth and a maiden. She droppped golden apples to win! It is not an Adam and Eve thing!
And, you end so well with a very human touch.
Dear Poet, welcome to our contest.

'who challenges with apple-echoes:' - this is pure poetry! I love this line.
I was completely captivated and enchanted with this lovely poem. So very well done with an eye for imagery that goes beyond the norm. Superb work. A wonderful entry to this contest. Best of luck in the judging. ~Pameal

A tangled love. Each strong in their own pursuits in life. Him foolish, thinkingof his conquests. Her thinking she can tame the beast! Interesting write! Love the analogies your brought forth in such a rich light and the tone of the whole poem itself! ~Sie

Within this I see the duplicity of your pirate, your mirror and self portraits - the most delicious lure paired with painful truths - reaching out despite the awareness of the impending and inevitable smite. Like walking a curb, one foot on and one foot off, it all seems so clumsy and pointless but, do it we must.
Another gem of lucious image and word.

I love this allegory!
Just to describe it as an allegory is too limiting.
I love the ebb and flow of the situation, your careful observation of it.
I can put it in our modern context, or they could be in gauzy draperies, traipsing along the hills of Hellas.
