The daily grind has got me beat
Wake to work, giving all of myself to the man
Not my man, "the man"
He nags me for my tax money before it's earned
Earned...
Another interesting term in our lives
Bustin ass to pay monetary bills
Not a penny saved
Another day another penny I always say
While the rich and unequivocally inhumane upper class
Sit back sippin wine not trippin
I am not glutenous and want not for their life
I want enough to feed my seeds
I want enough to maintain
Sleep doesn't come easy
When the weight of your world
Rests on shoulders not quite broad enough
To carry such a load
Pain in my chest letting me know
Yes... you are still alive
Continue the struggle poor sister
I went to God's house
But the snickers of the congregation
Made it hard to hear "the word"
On and on I go
Pacing back and forth in life's long hallway
Wondering when the doors will open for me and mine
Strength got me this far
Lord knows without my inner strength
I surely would have wilted in this heat
Yet still I walk on
Amazed, disheveled, discontent
For each breath I take stagnates
Reminders of losses not yet gained
And the pangs of life already lived
Peace comes with death
And I'm not there yet

Excellent
Your Gramps is pleased with what you write, it is a sign of your maturity that comes with advancing years. Reflecting on life and its unlevel playing field is fun, please do not get depressed doing so. Anyways, Sara, I like the poem.
Love Gramps.

Hang in there
big ears don't mean better understanding, big head doesn't mean better judgement, fat belly doesn't mean hungrier. thick lenses don't mean better vision. Life doesn't suck, but our way of adapting to what is presented to us could be difficult. We must not let the moment drag us down. Anyway, this sounds more like a rap song, I can definitely relate to it. But I must also admit, there is a deviation, an alteration, this is quite out of your still; yet you have managed to craft a wonderful piece. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing

Nicely written Sara

I agree wholeheartedly with this piece and your AN.
Life sucks...but we have to live it...why we have to live it is beyond me, for afte rall, no-one asked to be here...so why should we do something we never asked to do in the first place? lol
anyway, enough with the ramblings of an un sound mind
Wonderfully done hon
