Slow turn
steps from shadow
bright light of new day gleams
history calls new leadership
and change

You've captured a great big thought, in a few well chosen words. Having recently heard Obama speak in person, I am filled with hope and bursting with pride! I could feel the energy in the air! I think many of us see the "bright light of new day" on the horizon. Let us work hard to create the change we so long for.
Good luck in the competition!

It is weird, the other "Me's" seem to count as judges but not poor ole Ima. So again, I comment here so it shows that it has been commented on by a judge.

im thinking Ron Paul? that would give us a better shot at both

What's that line from The Who? "Say hello to the new boss, same as the old boss." Well, no one could be that bad, lol.
"Steps from shadow"
A very big shadow we've been in for 7 1/2 years.
I'm relatively disillusioned by the whole process but since I have almost nothing in common with Conservative thinking, my voting for Obama is an easy one. I hope he is for change, I hope he's as decent as he seems, but I'm wary of politics and politicians. Lets hope he wins and can restore America's dignity. That would be a good thing.
139 days to go...not that I am counting.
Having written all this, you never once wrote that this was the poem's topic, so I've made a major presumption, lol.

Yes, that Ted Williams was quite a hitter, sweet left handed stroke, he never complained that talented Blacks and Latinos were allowed to play the game, not like Ty Cobb, who campaigned to keep the color barrier. So it is a certain kind of greatness in us, that quiet confidence in our spirits, that welcomes the important things like talent and leadership, and ignores the rest. McCain would make some history too, the first lesser qualified candididate to lose the presidency in this century.

I missed seeing Ted Williams by about 8 years, but every BoSox fan knows him in some almost spiritual way...And anyone who represented Moxie, they are sort of like God to me.

Not only Ty Cobb, long after him (as you know) many whites resented integration in baseball, in all sports, and we see that racism and ignorance in politics right now. It's going to be an interesting election, on many levels.

Yes, I missed him too, but that didn't stop me from feeling the legend in the whole NYC area where i grew up baseball took on an surreal importance...my Grandma was a big Dodgers fan, my Dad loved the Giants, I think I was baptized in pinstripes...and the best centerfielder was not certain but clearly played somewhere in New York City...[Mickey, Willie or the Duke]...PK

So you are probably a Yankees fan then?

Just don't mention Bucky Dent, we still get sick here in Redsox Nation when we hear that name.

Hey thats wonderfully written! Best of luck in the contest

I bet you can hardly wait for November...
The whole world needs new leaderships, I hope your corner gets a good one, at last
You do those short forms very well, either using romantic or political themes.

well written in so few words..good luck

May hope rise and conquer.
A most positive, hopefully prophetic sentiment.
(If I had writen this I would have Hope next to a Hill.)

Hope and a Hill would be a new dawn in a still young country, trying not to be afraid of fear itself...wonderful...PK

Just wondering if, as he "steps from the shadow,"
that the shadow will cover the Hill.
That dream team may not happen.
But I am not fearing, I'm hoping!
(And saving my Hill signs stashed in the garage!)
Great avatar!
