As the twilight hours faded
His eyes were filled with tears
His hands were torn and bloody
From his dark and chilling fears
The rusted key he held
Was dull from the tortured pain
For the sad loss of his love
Hurt more than the crimson rain
The strings of his guitar
Echoed an unrequited love song
“Hey there Madeline,” he sang
“Where did I go wrong?”
Another tear escaped his eye
As his blood fell to the floor
Far more haunting was the thought
She didn’t love him anymore
As the twilight hours faded
He remembered their last kiss
The deadly perfect inspiration
To carve his story on his wrist

This is quite good. I don't usually read poems including suicide and such unless tastefully done I spose... I must say I really like this, you paint the scene well and have a way with words, I see why it won those contests. Well done ^_^

I was actually shocked.
I thought he might have killed her and it twisted into himself
I dont know if you ment to handle the poem in that way but it made for an interesting twist
I loved it
thanks for entering
