I feel your hands on my sky,
the tortured concentric swirls
in shapes of awe and sorrow
I will call you Vincent
you half-heard what I said
when I said my nights were lonely,
but busy
for I am counting starry places
where your fingers touched my skin

"for I am counting starry places
where your fingers touched my skin"
It's always been a favorite of mine, as well...Now, so is this gorgeous penning. Good luck in the contest, Sweetie.

A truly unique way of saying this. The torture is so true. He had plenty of that. I saw the Russian exhibit of his work and was moved by the heavy brush strokes. So much passion thrown down in color! Thanks for entering this fine and emotion filled poem. ~ Joyce

Fabulous first line! Nice, the swirls in shapes of awe and sorrow. The familiarity you bring with "I will call you Vincent" furthers the connection of the first line. Neat, in S3 he only half hears you, an expectation of better communication? S4 - where he touches you, there are starry places. Wonderful expression of understanding.

I studied Van Gogh in Art History in Unviersity....I was awed at his stunnign ability to create...and then was led to understand what passion, lack of passion, and in the midst of passion..how we are touched to create.... it makes it bearable betimes.
