Walk With Me

Self-deceit I've deemed a sin
Temptation's soldiers shall not win.
Temptation's sweets I dare not taste
For fear my life might go to waste.
Ignoring my own soul's desire
I rush on, and never tire.
Fire starts and never dies
And all the while, time, time flies
Fall within the future's cloud
No longer a face in the crowd.
Walk with me, and you will see
What every child one day can be.
Raise each dream and kill caprice
And watch each mind that you release
Fly off into the wilderness
And give the world a loving kiss.

Author notes

I chose the title option, and in case you haven't looked at the title of this poem, I picked "Walk With Me". I guess I kind of went off of the prompt a little, though, and I hope you won't mind. You got me started, though.

I've gone back to writing rhyming poetry like I did in the old days... *sigh* Good times, good times. Writing rhyme is a lot more fun, in my opinion. I love playing with the words and sounding them out. Yay!
