Crooked Man

I look at my reflection in the river and it’s crooked.
The ripples fracture features I did not expect to see
When I, once a child, thought what my life would be.
Promises that were never kept,
Dreams that turned to doubts,
When I gaze inside my soul I see a child staring out

To see a broken crooked man tangled in a web
Who’s emotions; like an ocean
Are meant to flow…
And ebb.
Who travels through a world fraught with such confusion
Where once I sought truth I have only met delusion.

I turn to the river that serpents like a snake
Twisted by hills that it could not overtake.
Yet faithfully it rushes forward to the sea;
So I cannot help but wonder,
        “Is there still hope for me?”

    I like the second stanza best, I think it is inspired as is the last line of the poem and the last line of the first stanza, yet I have to admit I don't think it's ready to be published, not quite. Just my opinion, just needs a little work but mostly it is inspired reading.

    a good piece of poetry, i guess we all have to look within and enter the battlefield of emotions and untangle ourselves, the journey of self discovery is constant.
